Where to Insulate

Home » HVAC » Insulation » Where to Insulate

In order to provide energy efficiency, your home should be properly insulated in the following areas:

• Attic spaces including access doors and knee walls
• Cathedral ceilings
• Exterior walls
• Foundations including crawl spaces and basements
• Ducts in unconditioned spaces
• Band joists
• Slab floors built directly on the ground
• Unheated garages
• Storage areas

It is important that you stop air leaks before adding insulation to these areas because the insulation may mask the leaks and make them harder to access.
