• Gas logs can be installed in existing masonry fireplaces or in the case of ventless, in a special firebox constructed to look like a heart and mantel.


• Gas logs just like any gas appliance should only be installed by a trained licensed professional. This is not a do–it–yourself project. Installation typically cost from $200 to $350.


• Be aware that local building codes may apply. Check with your local codes enforcement agency for regulations regarding where and how gas logs can be installed.


• Before purchasing a set of gas logs, measure your room so that you can make sure that the size of the unit you buy is approved for the size of your room.
