Here’s a rundown of some of the benefits offered to private sector employees in 2005, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
- Employee contributions for family medical care coverage averaged $273.03 per family per month.
- Workers in the private sector enjoyed 8.9 days of vacation per year, after one year of service. After 25 years, this number increased to 19.3 days.
- This same group enjoyed 8 paid holidays per year, on average.
- 12 percent of white-collar workers have access to stock option plans, compared to 6 percent of blue-collar workers and 2 percent of those in service occupations.
