Corporate Wellness - Does every employee have to participate?

Of course not! Not every employee will be interested in exercising, or even in changing the way they live. And not everyone will have the time, energy, or motivation to get moving. But having a corporate wellness program readily available—and subsidized, at least in part, by the company takes a lot of the arguments out of why people don’t join a health club.

Peer pressure may work in a good way for companies that use Corporate Wellness programs. It only makes sense. People often don’t like to exercise alone and they don’t want to pay the high prices for aerobics classes, gym memberships, weight-loss programs, or other things that would benefit their health. So by joining with colleagues, they have built-in workout partners and they don’t have to pay a dime. And when your colleagues work out regularly and talk about the benefits at work, others might feel pressure—in a good way—to get involved, too.

Some companies offer incentives to motivate employees to participate, such as paid time off, tickets to sporting or entertainment events, or gift certificates or other rewards for achieving stated goals. So while everyone isn’t required to participate, the reasons for not doing so are greatly minimized when organized in such a way.
