1) The Downtown area of Houston is a popular location and attractive area to live in to consider purchasing a property because living downtown means that you are almost on the doorstep of the University and general recreation activities such as many theatres dedicated to displaying the arts – ballet, opera or the symphony and first class shopping facilities (basically everything you will ever need can be found almost on your doorstep). Properties within the Inner Loop area tends to comprise of older style properties which are commonly used just for the lots and new homes are constructed on the site. There are over 2,000 downtown properties to choose from within the area today and in 1998 alone there was more than 1000 new residential units prices start from around $150,000 but this figure can be higher or lower and the best areas throughout the Inner Loop are River Oaks, The Medical Center and Bellaire.
2) The Woodlands which is located in the northern part of Houston, it is widely known to be the number one planned community within the whole of Texas and apart from the beautiful surrounding wooded areas, you will only need to travel about 10 or 15 minutes in any direction to find a variety of recreational and educational facilities within the area. The benefit of buying a property within the Woodlands area is that you can choose a neighbourhood that has golf courses in the surrounding area or if you prefer then you could select a property within the Town Center, an average price for a house within the Woodlands area will cost around $184,000.
3) The Bellaire area found within the Inner Loop is another popular location as is many parts of the Inner Loop area of Houston. There are many excellent facilities within the local area with over 15 schools/colleges and universities in the one area alone, 34 movie theatres and over 5,000 restaurants in the vicinity. In terms of popularity, this is one of the best places you can consider buying and even though the average price is slightly higher than the country’s national average, it is worth every penny. You can expect to spend about $395,000 on a property within the area but with the typical household income being at just under 100,000 dollars it is almost double what you would get in other areas of Houston which tends to be around $34 - $35,000.
4) If you would prefer a really exclusive neighbourhood then you can buy a good quality property within the well known River Oaks area which can be found in Tarrant County which sits slightly east of Galleria. A commute to downtown Houston is just 10 minutes and with a long row of beautiful mansions with well landscaped gardens it is an ideal neighbourhood for a growing family. The area was first developed in 1928 and since this time the high standard has remained which is popular and if you don’t want to head into the center of Houston, you will find many great boutiques and shops within the River Oaks Shopping Center. Prices for properties are a little on the pricey side (from 450,000 up to $1 million) but in the River Oaks area you are getting an excellent, friendly family environment with many facilities on the doorstep and overall you cannot get any closer to downtown Houston if you tried. Properties with the center are difficult to locate and you are close enough to town if you need to be but also far enough away for peace and quiet.
5) Many people choose the Midtown area of Houston to lay their routes. This community is located south of the downtown area and with it being surrounded by freeways, it has become a really desirable place to live as it provides easy access throughout the city. Choosing a property with the Midtown offers a range of choices in terms of styling from apartments or maybe even a restored historical home. This is an area that has the largest number of workers that are employed in companies throughout the downtown area and the Texas Medical Center, the total figure amounts to more than 200,000 jobs within the area and as a result it is becoming a more popular choice. Another benefit of living in the area is that you will find the University of Houston just three miles away so as a result of the freeways and the Metro rail you can travel to this location and downtown with ease. Rentals and sales are particularly high in the area although many great bargains can be found. If you prefer to rent an apartment or house then you can expect to spend around $700 which will be of high quality or for between $140,000 to about $500,000 you can get an excellent property for a somewhat great price.
6) You will find that properties within the Inner Loop area are the most popular and it may be best to consider purchasing a property with the neighbourhood of the med center area. It may prove difficult to find a home within the area because most of the employees that work at the Texas Medical Center may choose to live here, you can choose from a range of three storey homes which is standard for the area and every morning you could wake up to views of the beautiful downtown skyline. Over the last five years there has been great demand for properties within the general inner loop location and this is a trend that continues to grow, located to the south of downtown it is situated next to Highway 288 but overall it is only a short walk to the centre of Houston. Prices for townhouses in the area start from around $180,000 and can rise up to anything around $650,000 but with the continuous growth, if you can find a suitable property within the area then get an offer in quick – properties go quickly.
