• If you want to learn a wide range of interesting facts that are fun yet enjoyable then why not take a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. There are many permanent exhibits in the area including the Farish Hall of Texas Wildlife; here you can meet some of the many creatures that are native to Texas which includes alligators, river otters, mountain lion and many that have disappeared over time. You can enjoy a chance to learn about the plants and animals within the region and then test your knowledge by using the interactive computer to sharpen your skills. This is not all you can enjoy a wide range of alternative attractions that range from African Wildlife to a great collection of some of the most beautiful and gemstones that have been found throughout the world – there is also a range of special exhibits that you may want to visit for and the website keeps this updated regularly. If you want something slightly more relaxing then you may want to stop off at the Cockrell Butterfly Center where you can see hundreds of butterflies in a typical rainforest environment where over 60 different species of the world’s largest and most colorful butterflies from around the globe. If you need details of the opening times for the science museum or prices for tickets then you can contact the museum on (713) 639-4629 or refer to the website http://www.hmns.org.

For a meal with a difference then you must consider stopping off the Atchafalaya River Café in North Loop, Houston where you can sample a range of Cajun and traditional American meals but there is something to cater for all tastes and the atmosphere is simple but relaxing.

When you arrive, you will follow a neon crawfish to the restaurant where you will see a live alligator in a tank and there is a range of Cajun styling with flyers and Mardi Gras beads hanging over the restaurant. You can choose from Cajin cuisine such as a mixture of red beans and rice, Andouille sausage or a wide range of seafood and crawfish which can be served to your liking either fried or grilled. Apart from this, you will find a range of beautiful platters of fish and this is just the start.

There is a separate children’s menu available which comes complete with Mardi Gras beads and a coloring book. The average cost for a meal is $18 which is good value for money and the restaurant is open from 11am – 10pm Sunday – Thursday and 11am – 11pm Friday – Saturday.

• After a great lunch, if the weather holds up then there is nothing better than finishing a day before dinner with a visit to Hermann Park on A Golf Course Drive near Houston. It is an ideal place to have a picnic but it is known as the place for 101 things to do and I can’t list them all but some of best attractions to see includes a visit to the dock of McGovern Lake plaza where you can enjoy some of sights and on hot days get sprayed by the geyser, watch the beautiful Snowy Egret chase fish in Brays Bayou, listen to woodpeckers or dangle your toes in the Mary Gibbs and Jesse H Jones Reflection pool. There are many other great things you can do and there is so much potential to have fun, boredom is impossible because at Hermann Park, the attractions tend to come to you.

If you want a meal that proves excellent value for money where you won’t break the bank but leave filling content then you should visit the Bistro D’Wine restaurant in Westheimer, Houston. You will feel spoilt for choice when perusing the menu and with options such as Sizzling Thai Shrimp, Pecan Crusted Brie and Candied Fig Salad or perhaps a tasty Greek pizza, this is just a small selection of a wide choice and for a full three course meal you could spend a little as $40 - $50 per person depending on what you settle with but this is one restaurant where vegetarians have a say and don’t have to sit in the corner with just a measly salad, you will be able to get something more fulfilling.

If you want to make a reservation or you have any queries then you can either contact the restaurant on 713.626.9463 or refer to the website http://www.bistrodwine.com/contact.html for more details.
