After reading the above you have a pretty good idea as to how LCDs work. Now comes to the time do some comparison shopping. But before you go out and buy any LCD projector, you should check out what is available because buying one is a big investment. You want to make sure you are getting what you need.
· Resolution: The first thing to look for is picture size or resolution. The bigger the resolution the better. What are you using the projector for? Presentations? Training seminars? If you are in a large room you will need a large resolution. Most projectors come in sizes including 800 by 600, 1024 by 768, 1280 by 1024, or 1600 by 1200.
· Brightness: When you look at any project consider the brightness. Remember that LCD projector measure brightness in lumens. The higher the lumen the better. If you are using your projector in a dimly lit room, you will need one with a lumen of 1500 at least. More is better.
· Contrast: Besides brightness, you also have to consider contrast. Contrast is considered the ratio of brightness to darkness on an image. When shopping for a LCD projector, look for one with a contract ratio of at least 400:1. No lower or your viewing image will be distorted.
· Weight: Do you need the LCD projector to be portable? Do you need to carry it around from meeting to meeting? If this is the case, you will need one that is light and portable. A LCD projector that weighs five pounds or less is about right.
