» Why have a home theater?
Remember the days when we plugged a rented VCR into our console television and thought we were on the cutting edge of entertainment technology? And the only “stereo” we knew was the one blaring music from our brother’s room. Until recently, many of us thought “home theaters” were reserved for the Hollywood or entertainment elite, whose mansions we admired on MTV’s Cribs. Well, not so today. In our current world of high-definition pictures and digital sound, home theater systems and movie rooms are popping up everywhere, regardless of the size of your house, apartment, or economic wealth. It has been estimated that nearly 20 million American households own a complete home theater system. There are several benefits to having a home theater:
· Home theaters improve your TV viewing experience by bringing the movie-theater experience into the comfort of your own home. Your average VCR and TV with 4 inch speakers hardly captures the full effect of a major motion picture or today’s more advanced video games, not to mention high-definition programming.
· Home theaters provide an alternative to a costly night-out at the movies. A family of four might spend $50-$75 just on tickets and concessions for one outing to the movies!
