What are the basic components of a home theater?

There are at least three major elements that constitute the core of a home theater:

·        Video Display Screen – Any modern television can be used in a home theater. Video displays can range from 27-inch TV to a projection screen of more than 120 inches (10 feet). Whatever type of display you choose, it should optimize your video output goals, which could include wide-screen movies, video games, or high-definition television programming. Without the right display, you lose visual impact.

·        Digital Video Source - A hi-fi VCR is acceptable; however a DVD player is most often the primary focal point for your home theater. Without a DVD player, you just have a big, loud TV.

·        Surround-Sound Capability - Your surround-sound should have four or more speakers. Surround-sound is what allows you to create a more theater-like audio experience.
