» How much does a home theater cost?
The cost of the system can depend on what the individual considers important. Sports fans may be more concerned with the size of the TV than with sound. Those who are movie buffs may consider sound and picture quality to be the most important considerations. Here are some considerations when estimating costs:
· What components do you already have that you intend to use?
· What you need or want to buy in addition to what you have?
· What type of room you are using, or are you custom creating/building a dedicated theater room?
Once you have a goal in mind, make a list of all your expected expenses. Then do plenty of research and shop around for the best prices. Here are a few guidelines to help you budget:
· For a standard system of a 27-inch TV, DVD player, surround sound and speakers, plus accessories, plan to budget $1,000 - $1,500.
· Investing in a wide-screen TV plus more advanced sound equipment for a family-room location could run from $1,500 - $6,000 depending on the quality of the equipment.
· Higher-end systems such as a plasma TV, LCD TV, or video projection system runs between $5,000 and $10,000.
As you begin to consider dedicated theater rooms, your budget could run from $30,000 to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also consider that custom room costs include building/renovation costs, furniture and décor, and installation in addition to the audio and video equipment.
