Infrared repeaters will work one of two ways. The first choice is to place electronic equipment in every room so that your remote control can pass the infrared signal from room to room and control your equipment from anywhere. The other way transfers your infrared signal into a more long-range radio frequency (RF). With this method, you simply place infrared extenders in different rooms where you want to use your equipment from another location. Your remote control or remote controls transmits an infrared signal to the extenders or repeaters and then turns them into RF signals. These RF signals are able to pass through walls and get to your main receiver connected to your stereo receiver or other equipment. This allows you to change the songs that are being played on remote speakers connected throughout the house or change the channel of the TV that is wired into your main cable system. These devices lower the cost of having to buy extra DVD players or sound systems.
