Now that you’ve read about the technology behind the DLP projectors and know what it does, it is time to shop for one. But before you do you have to know what to look for so you get the right one that fits your situation:

·        Brightness: Projector brightness is measured in ANSI lumens. The higher the lumens the brighter the projector. If you have a room with plenty of lighting and don’t need that much light, 1,000 lumens would be good. However, if you have a large room it would be better to go with at least 2,000 lumens.
·        Clear Picture: If you are using a laptop, just adjust your resolution settings. However, when shopping for a DLP projector, it would be good to go after one with uniformity rating of 85% or greater. When dealing with trying to get as clear a picture as possible, remember when looking for a projector consider uniformity. This measures the amount of brightness that goes through the entire screen. The more the uniformity the better brightness across the whole screen.
·        Portability: When you are looking at projectors, consider the size. How big or small do you need it to be? If you want one that is easy to carry around think small. Under these conditions a two to five pound projector would be ideal.
·        Type of connections: When looking for a projector you have to consider the connector. What type of cable will it need? To be compatible with most PCs and home use, you should get a cable that can hook up to most video equipment. The connectors you need to be aware of are component video, S-video and composite video, and Digital Visual Interface (DVI).
