Do you like to show home movies? Or do you have a big presentation to give at your next meeting? If so, you would like to give the best presentation possible right? After all you wouldn’t want to be laughed at for showing lousy pictures. If you are doing it for a meeting, you wouldn’t want to look bad for your boss. You would use the one you have but it is old and just doesn’t project that well anymore. So it is time to go for a new one. However, because of new technology, projectors don’t work the same as they use to. So perhaps you need to be brought up to date on what is going on in the world of projectors before you proceed to buy one.

·        Projector technology: Today’s projectors are made of two different kinds of technology: DLP (Digital Light Processing) or LCD (Liquid Crystal Display).
o       DLP – More about this technology will be covered below. You may not know this but DLP is the world’s only all-digital display solution. DLP uses optical semiconductor, or what is known better as Digital Micromirror Device, to recreate the image.
o       LCD – LCD (liquid crystal display) projectors have three LCD glass panels, one for red, green, and blue. As light passes through the LCD panels, the individual pixels open to allow light to pass through.

For the sake of this article, the primarily discussion will be on DLP technology and how it works. Knowing and understanding this is vital to knowing how the projector works.
