ConsumerWatch.com has posted an article on....get this...how to create a home theater on the "cheap".

How big is too big? PC World magazine said you never want to sit closer than twice the distance diagonally. So, for a 56-inch TV, your home theater has to be big enough so you can sit at least nine feet away.

Also, consider upgrading your DVD player. You can spend hundreds on a high-definition DVD player, or about $100 on a progressive-scan player. Experts said to just make sure it has component or HDMI outputs for better video quality.

This advice pretty much applies whether or not you can find anything "on the cheap" and frankly, I'm tired of all this advice to begin with. It seems to presuppose that getting a home theater is a necessity at all.
