PC World comes through again with a nice little column on building your home theater without breaking the bank.

Better audio and video cables can enhance your experience for very little cash. For a start, your speaker cables should be at least 16-gauge thick and use solid gold connectors instead of braided wires. You can find these at any electronics shop for prices starting at 50 cents a foot.

The article goes on to suggest buying a 5.1 Channel system, even if it's a crummy one, and buying a bigger screen. At this point, the article becomes less and less relevant in terms of compound advice. Who the hell doesn't know to buy a better sound system/bigger screen? Supposedly this thing is going to help us buy a nice home theater set with a minimum of spending, but the bottom line always seems to be an apologetic "You have to spend money."
