Wired vs. Wireless Security Systems

Home security systems come hard-wired and wireless depending on your preference.

• Hard-wired – Wired systems have sensors and other devices that are hard-wired to the control panel. They are harder to install unless you have existing wiring from a previous alarm system. They are less expensive than the wireless models.

• Wireless – Wireless systems run on a lithium battery that must be changed periodically to keep the system working properly. The wireless systems allow for installation without having to pull up carpet or worry about brick walls or cement floors. You will not have to drill holes either, which is a plus for many homeowners. With new technology the batteries for these systems now last for at least five years.
