Monitoring the Home Security System

Older home security systems notified the police when triggered. This was a problem with all of the false alarms being reported. Now monitoring centers take all alarm calls and call your home to verify there is a problem. If they cannot reach you at home or the person who answers in unable to verify the pass code they notify the police.

The monthly fee for this service is generally anywhere from $20.00 to $40.00 a month for basic service. For additional fees you can pay for cellular backup, fire protection, repairs, and dual tech sensor systems. For an extra fee you can add remote controls. These extra fees can add $30.00 to $200.00 a month to your monitoring fee.

Contracts with monitoring systems can be on a month-to-month basis but normally there is a three to five year commitment. Signing a contract will keep your fees from increasing during the time commitment. However, if you break the contract before the commitment time is over you will pay a high penalty.
