Ability wise and academically speaking, homeschooled students are more than adequately prepared to enter colleges and universities and excel. But how do they fit in with the rest of the students after being homeschooled all or most of their lives? It is impossible to chronicle the lives of every homeschooled student who enters college, but the ones who have shared their experiences on webmagazines and other sites have stated that fitting in on a social level at universities has overall not been a problem. Several students have said they felt they had a better handle on their personalities before they entered college and thus didn’t deal with identity crises issues, or cave in as easily to peer pressure. They are confident with who they are and assimilating into the college life was a natural fit for most of them. It is important to keep in mind when considering the homeschooled students who do not fare well in a college environment, that not all traditionally schooled students do either. It may be as much or more a personality issue as a schooling issue. College is the right choice for some, but not for everyone.
