Tips for moving day

1. Be there to supervise on moving day. Watch the movers closely and speak up if you have questions or concerns.
2. Professional moving companies will not allow you to ship aerosols or household chemicals. If you want to transport household chemicals, put them in your car. But be aware that in the summer, chemicals can explode in very warm, enclosed spaces. It’s better to simply properly dispose of the chemical items and buy new ones when you reach your new home.
3. Professional moving companies also will not transport your plants. The stress and heat of being inside the moving truck will likely kill them anyway. If you choose to take your plants with you in your car, be sure to understand state regulations. Some states prohibit the entry of all plants, and others have conditional policies. Some states, however, have no regulations. It might be best to consider giving your plants to friends and family members before your move.
4. Carry important documents and valuables yourself or send them to your destination using registered mail.
