While we will always have some type of insects around our home there are steps we can take to help prevent infestation. The following are some tips for prevention and also safety tips:

• Check boxes, paper items, and furniture that you bring into your house.
• Keep food preparation areas clean.
• Keep trashcan lids securely in place.
• Do not keep decaying wood in your yard.
• Stack firewood off the ground.
• Keep gutters clean.
• Consider putting a chimney cap/cover on your chimney to keep out birds, squirrels, and raccoons.
• Cut back limbs from your trees and shrubs that touch or overhang your property.
• Protect your family and pets from coming into contact with any pesticides.
• Read instructions carefully before using pesticides.
