Whether you are working on a project or your car, you need hand tools to make the job easier. Think about trying to take a stuck bolt off without the proper tool. What a headache. Or how about trying to turn a screw without the right hand tool? Not a good thought. That’s why hand tools are so important. They are convenient and easy to use. They make work so much easier and less time consuming. But just what type of tools do you need? What do you look for in tools? To know these questions you first have to know what kind of hand tools are available so you can get an idea as to what you may need.
 
·        Measuring Tools: Measuring tools consist of various types of rulers including tape and measuring wheels. There even laser measuring devices out now that are more accurate.
·        Finishing Tools: These are hand tools you use to help clean, scrape, or smooth the surface of wood, metal, or other types of surfaces. Such tools include files, putty knives, scrapers, and surform tools and blades.
·        Strking & Struck Tools: Striking tools include hammers of different types and struck tools include chisels. There are also nail sets and punches.  
·        Layout Tools: In order to make sure the surface you are working with is level you would use a layout tool. These hand tools include levels, squares, and chalk line reels.  
·        Fastening Tools: This is categorized as tools that help to fasten things together. These include pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, net drivers and ratchets, staplers and tackers, glue guns and glue sticks, and nailers. Each one has a particular purpose for fastening two or more objects or surfaces.
·        Cutting Tools: Cutting tools include knives, mitre boxes, planes, saws of various types, and snips. Whatever type of material you need cutting, one of these tools will do it.
·        Laser Tools and Stud Sensor: Find studs and getting accurate measurements couldn’t be any easier with laser measuring and stud sensors.
·        Automotive Tools: These hand tools include flashlights, sockets, ratchets, wrenches, impact sockets, air tools, tire inflators, and other specialty tools.
