There are many to choose from and once you have assessed your belongings and your space you will find it easier to select a system that works for you. If you choose to purchase a do-it-yourself system, be sure that you have your measurements ready when you go to the store. Purchase the necessary accessories based on how much you own and how you want it stored. The benefit of doing it yourself is that you'll know how to make adjustments when needed in the future. You might want to consider planning out your space into specific areas with related items together for easy access. For example, a sports equipment area, a home repair area, auto supplies area, seasonal storage area, etc.

• inexpensive hooks - large deep hooks are perfect for hanging a ladder and bikes while smaller hooks can keep your work bench neat and tidy on a wallboard or peg rack
• drawer units for miscellaneous hardware and utility items
• clear plastic bins for storage of seasonal or frequently used items
