Windows Mobile-based PMCs come in 20 Gigabyte or 40 Gigabyte storage capacities. There is also a PMC made by Archos that is not Windows based, and it features capacities up to 100 Gigabytes of storage. The Windows Mobile-based PMCs support a variety of different file types, including Microsoft Windows Media Audio files, MP3s, JPEG images (digital photos), Microsoft recorded TV show files, MPEG movie files, and more. These are not compatible with iTunes, but they are compatible with Windows Media Player.
To use the Windows Mobile-based PMCs, you can transfer files from your personal computer onto the PMC using Windows Media Player. It will accept the following types of files from a personal computer or laptop:
• music copied from a CD
• pictures from a digital camera
• home movies from a digital video camera
• TV shows recorded onto a computer using Windows XP Media Center Edition or other personal video recorder programs
• videos downloaded from the Internet
PMCs will not accept copied DVDs, even if they are ones you own, because of copyright restrictions.
