Playing the guitar is a blast! With a few lessons you can be well on your way to leading the campfire songs on family outings or starting out the next big punk rock band. It is important to spend time finding a reputable retail store that will assist you in your purchase and not try to sell you something you don’t need.

Don’t sell yourself short. It may be to your advantage to spend a little more up front on a decent guitar that will hold a tune and engender excitement. Many of the top name brand manufacturers now sell beginner guitars at reasonable prices. Do some surfing on the web and find a manufacturer that has a history of quality craftsmanship and satisfied customers.

Finally, don’t be intimidated by the fact that you’ve never played before. Find a friend or someone you can trust who plays and take them with you to the store to help you pick out your new toy. The more pleasurable you make your purchasing experience the better your chances of sticking with the instrument. Just think, you are that much closer to being that student on the lawn jamming some tunes or that crazy uncle who knows every song from the 80’s. All it takes is some determination, a decent six guitar and a few chords.
