Not only must you consider whether or not you will buy an acoustic or electric guitar but you must also consider the size of the guitar. The smaller size guitar is called a Grand Concert or Parlor Guitar. This size of guitar was popular in the past when amplification was not an option. Though smaller in size, this size guitar still puts out great sound. The next size acoustic guitar is called the Dreadnought. The Dreadnought size guitar is the most popular guitar size sold. It is a full-bodied guitar that resonates extremely well. The largest size guitar is called the Jumbo. The body on the Jumbo guitar is deeper and wider than the other two sizes. This size guitar will be great for larger players.

The Classical guitar comes in sizes as well. The sizes are: ¼, ½, ¾, and Full. The ¼ and ½ sizes are ideal for young children as they are the smallest size. The ¾ size classical guitar is the closest to the Grand Concert. The Full size classical is the most common size among classical players.
