The term ‘good’ is highly relative when talking about an acoustic guitar. Buying an acoustic guitar can seem a bit daunting. There are many different manufacturers and price ranges to chose from. For someone who is just starting out it is often a good idea to borrow a guitar from a friend or even rent one from a music school or teacher. This is beneficial in that you can see if the person who wants to learn to play is going to stick with it. If, after taking a test run for a month or two, the person wants to keep pursuing then you can proceed in the purchasing process.

Find a good retail music store, on that specializes in guitars and has a knowledgeable staff. Decide upon a budget before you go into the store. If your price range is $150 then you will be limited in your options. You can buy a decent used guitar for this price or an entry- level guitar from some reputable manufacturers. So often you get what you pay for, so it is recommended that you try to get the best bang for you buck. Guitars bought in places like Wal-Mart or Costco look great for the price, but what happens is you get a guitar that easily falls out of tune and is cheaply made. Do yourself a favor and save spend and extra $50-$75 and get a guitar that you will enjoy.
