As the cradle of civilization, Greece remains a wonder around the world. Located in southeast Europe on the Mediterranean Sea, Greece proudly displays images of the country’s glory—from the Temple of Apollo at Delphi to the Parthenon in Athens. It was in this unique country that democracy, philosophy, mathematics, and science were born. As the intersection for cultural currents, Greece became the crossroads for people of every region to pass through and impact this varied landscape.

The weather of Greece is that of a warm Mediterranean climate. The summers are dry and hot, while the winters are mild in southern Greece and significantly colder in northern Greece. The rainy season in Greece occurs from November to March. The western mountains receive a significant amount of rain while the eastern mainland receives considerably less precipitation.

The history of Greece is glorious with such rich characters as Alexander the Great and cities such as Athens. During 700 B.C., the great city states of Athens, Corinth, and Sparta rose up and joined together to unite against the Persian Empire. It was this new Hellenic Greece that built colonies along the Mediterranean and whose culture would become the foundation of Hellenistic civilization. The pinnacle of this country was reached in Athens during the fifth century B.C. when the city became the cultural focal point of the Mediterranean.
Today the waves of these achievements can still be felt on the currents of Greece and its islands.
