The country of Greece is a peninsula located in the South East Europe. It is very mountainous and surrounded by two seas: The Aegean Sea at the East and the Ionia Sea at the West. Greece is actually located on the Mediterranean Sea, situated between Turkey, Bulgaria, Albania, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
The country radiates traditional charm by offering simple pleasures such as quaint villages, local wine, incredible food at reasonable prices, coastlines decorated with beautiful beaches, and islands bursting of scenic surprises.
Greece is divided in regions and island groups that are systemized into prefectures identified as “Nomoi”. The islands of Greece include: Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, and Cyclades and Ionian Islands.
Greece also possesses a variety of major cities and regions. Athens is the most important of all the Greece cities. It is the country’s capital and contains more than one third of the population. The second most important of the Greek cities is Thessaloniki found in the North, which is vibrant with a Byzantine atmosphere. The rich wonders of the country’s history are found primarily on the Peloponnese Peninsula, the doorway to the remains of the ancient Greek classical world.
