There are many general activities visitors can enjoy during their time in Greece. From mountaineering to water sports, tourists can partake in all the activities Greece has to offer. Below are a few examples of activities available in Greece:
- Fishing: If you enjoy fishing, Greece is a great place to cast your line in the water. The waters of Greece provide good fishing, especially during the summer and autumn months. Most villages offer equipment and boats for those who desire to fish.
- Mountaineering: Greece’s mountainous terrain is ideal for mountaineering. Mountaineering is becoming more and more prevalent in Greece, with the best places to walk being the forested Pindos Mountains, south and west of Crete, and the Peloponnese. Many of the most popular areas contain trails that are well preserved.
- Skiing: If you want to ski in Europe and save money, Greece is one of the cheapest places to do so. The country provides nearly 20 resorts, which have much to offer as a substitute to the Alps. The most urbanized ski area is the Mt. Parnassos resort located close to Delphi.
- Water sports: Both the islands and the mainland of Greece provide outstanding facilities to enjoy various water sports. Speedboats, scuba-diving, and snorkeling are all possible within this country, although scuba-diving is only possible when done with a standard diving school. Water-skiing is particularly popular in Greece as there are over 30 water-ski schools in the country. The most popular water sport in Greece, however, is windsurfing, and the Aegean provides the ideal situations for enjoying the sport.
