  • Acropolis: TheAcropolis is the most famous site in all of Athens. Found on the top of a large hill in the middle of the city, visitors can tour this landmark full of ancient ruins.
  • National Archaeological Museum: Spend the day touring the National Archaeological Museum, which features artifacts and art from the Minoans. These ancient tribe peoples were once the dominant controllers of the Aegean Sea.
  • Anafiotika: Resting in the shadow of the Acropolis, the Anafiotika is a close example of a Cycladic village. Visitors will appreciate the enchanting section of simple stone houses, many of which are carved right into the bedrock.
  • Agora: This was once the marketplace of ancient Greece, where people would come to gather and discuss ideas and philosophies. The ruins of this cultural and economic center of the ancient city are found today in the center of modern Athens.
  • Plaka: This historic neighborhood is a great place to walk and enjoy both the scenery and history of Athens. It is located at the bottom of the hill where the Acropolis dominates the landscape.
  • Parthenon: Be sure to stop in and explore this ancient ruin found on the Acropolis. The Parthenon was the crowning jewel of ancient Greek architecture and is known for its dignified white marble columns and perfect proportions. 
  • Kolonaki: If you want to spend the day getting a feel for modern Athens, Kolonaki is the place to go. This modern street is decorated with the city’s most stylish boutiques, restaurants, and coffee houses. Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants or cafes while you shop the day away.
  • National Gardens: If you want to escape the city, and enjoy immaculate scenery, tour the National Gardens of Athens. This magnificent oasis provides visitors a welcomed reprieve from the bustling city. Pack a picnic lunch and stroll through the duck ponds and small zoo as you enjoy the day outside.
  • National Gallery of Art: If you appreciate art, stroll through the National Gallery of Art in Athens. This gallery boasts a collection of Renaissance Western European art as well as 20th century Greek art. The modern building is a perfect complement to the art within.
