The Palmengarten botanical gardens feature a collection of tropical plants and a palm house made of glass and iron. Visitors can walk the grounds feeling they are in a tropical jungle.

Founded in 1858, the Frankfurt Zoological Garden is one of the world’s oldest zoos. This 13 hectare site has over 4,500 animals representing over 600 species. The Grzimek house turns day into night so visitors can observe nocturnal animals. The “free flight” bird hall is the only one of its kind in Europe.

Shielded from the city traffic by thick walls, Von Bethmann Park is a taste of peace and quite in the middle of a bustling city. The garden, which once belonged to the Bethmann banking family, features colorful blooms and creative flowerbeds. The Chinese Garden, laid out in the principles of feng-shui is considered the most popular part of the park. Bethmann Park also has an advice center where vistors can get answers about plant diseases and get planting tips.
