The lawsuit states that the executives of the company knew or should have known of several inappropriate and questionable business practices which resulted in the company's stock being a wrong choice for a retirement plan. The lawsuit also alleges that instead of tell its employees of this knowledge the company and its executives chose to tell employees to continue their participation in the company stock purchase plan and even continued matching contributions in the stock which in turn resulted in employees loosing millions of dollars in their retirement investment plans. The Williams Company, Inc stock fell from $50 per share to prices as low as 83 cents per share. The lawsuit looks to add more plaintiffs to the case before it is heard in court. The plaintiffs are seeking a monetary payment to the plan that will make up for any losses that were taken.
