While the game of roulette has typically been seen as one for the elite and educated in Europe, it actually is very simple to play - if you have the bankroll. Like most gambling games, all you need to sit down at the roulette table is the minimum bet. Before the wheel is spun or before the dealer has said that all bets are off, the player must place their chip down on the table in one of the squares - whether red, 32, or a series of numbers. If you hit the exact number that you played then you get paid 35 to 1 meaning if you put down ten dollars then you would win 360 dollars, because you get your original money back before the house pays you. Not bad for 20 seconds of your time. But if you don't hit then the house gets your money. Not all squares pay
out the same odds. By betting red or black you get paid 1 to 1. Remember, this does not mean that you just get back your money. The house would pay you your ten dollars and then throw in ten dollars of their own.
The funny thing about roulette is that the house always has the edge that is probably not a mistake. If you bet the number 1 then you will be paid 35 to 1 (or 36 to 1 considering that you get money back from your bet), but the odds of you hitting that number are 37 to 1. Just that little edge allows the assurance that the house will take in more money then they will lose.
