The first basic part of the game of roulette is the wheel. The wheel is usually made out of a metal, and sometimes plastic for those that is playing in their home or an extremely private game. There is usually a rounded brass point in the middle and then a space on the edge of the round wheel for the ball spin. Closest to the point in the middle are 37 or 38 pockets. They are numbered 1 to 36 with the number one being red and then the pockets going back and forth - red and black. On most boards there is one pocket numbered "0" and is painted green and in America there is another pocket painted green and numbered "00." The second part of the roulette game is the croupier - or the dealer in the game of roulette. Often seen with a rake in his hand to move the chips around from one place on the table to another.

And that is the third and probably the most important part of the game of roulette - the table. The entire table is made for the purpose of betting. There are open spaces on the end to place drinks or extra chips but almost all the table space is given over to areas where you can place bets. There are two halves to the betting table. The left portion, according to the croupier, is the large betting area. This is where you ca bet on all red or black, or perhaps the 2nd twelve numbers (13-24). The right portion of the table is the smaller betting area. Here is where you can bet on 00, 23, a series of three numbers that are in a line on a board like 28, 29, and 30.
