» What games can I put in my game room?
Early game rooms were simply a room designed for billiards. In the classic Parker Brothers game “Clue,” for example, the “Billiard Room” is one of the possible scenes of the murder. Today, however, you can have far more than just billiards in your game room.
· Foosball: This popular table soccer game has players control teams of soccer players who are attached to sliding and rotating bars.
· Dome Hockey: As in foosball, dome hockey players control their “team” using rotating bars and/or knobs.
· Air Hockey: In air hockey, opposing players hold flat paddles, with which they protect their goals and shoot the puck (a thin plastic disc). The puck glides across the table along the air that rises out of small holes in the table’s surface.
· Table Tennis: Table tennis (ping-pong) requires a lot of space, but it is very popular. As in tennis, players serve and volley the ball in attempts to score points. Many tables are foldable, which makes for easy storage.
· Billiards: There are several different ways to play billiards, but in any version, competitors take turns using the white cue ball to knock the other fifteen balls into pouches on the sides and corners of the table.
· Arcade Games: You can purchase traditional video games, such as combat games or sports games, as well as more active games such as hoop shoots.
· Board Games/Card Games: A simple card table allows you a perfect surface for everything from Monopoly to Go Fish. In addition, you can purchase specialized tables designed for poker or other games. In any case, stock your game room with your board games and packs of cards.
· Darts: Both electronic darts and traditional bristle darts cost less than $100; just make sure you have good aim.
Most of these game tables cost anywhere from one hundred to six hundred dollars. In addition, there are countless other games on the market as well, ranging from shuffleboard to virtual golf to games you play on the television. If you are looking to save money or size, you could look at tables with convertible tops so that you get more than one game for a single surface. These games, however, are often not full-size tables and they may not have high quality. Purchase games that have high quality; you don’t want to break your game the first time you use it. That’s not any fun, and fun is what a game room is all about.
