Have you ever heard the expression "on a roll"? How about "crapshoot", "no dice", "crap out", or "do it the hard way". These popular sayings are all derived from a casino dice game known as craps. Craps is based on the Old English game hazard, and is particularly popular in the United States. The game is played by wagering money against the casino on the outcome of one roll, or on the outcome of a series of rolls of two dice. Craps is not just a game for casinos, however. Its played in many less formal settings as well, including people's homes. This is made possible with an in-home craps table. A craps table is covered in felt, usually green with white lettering, and is printed with a diagram showing the spaces for the types of bets. In the center, there is a section where Hardways and One Roll bets can be placed. At the ends of the table, there are sections for the Pass Line, Come, Place, Field, and other bets. The ends of the table are mirror images of each other.
