Furniture manufacturers and retailers are expecting to make more entertainment-related products in retail furniture showrooms across the country, especially game tables.
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams unveiled two unusual designs, most notable because of their ornate legs. A Dutch country table has an inlay of dark red African wood in a cerise finish. Handcrafted in Italy, it has graceful but substantial turned legs.
The company's Genevieve game table sports sculpted cabriole legs that give it an elegant form. The plank-style top shows French country influence and the cherry-finished piece could double as an elegant writing table.
At Eddie Bauer, the Lakeridge table has a checkerboard top that is removable for a game of backgammon. Available in a medium oak finish, the table's turned legs are joined by a curvy stretcher and manufactured by Lane Home Furnishings.
Another design, the D'Orsay game table, houses three removable game board drawers for chess, backgammon and tick-tack-toe.
