Can I use my iPod as a voice recorder?

Yes! While the iPod has typically been a device where sound only comes out, there are now voice recorder accessories available from several different manufacturers.

Apple added the feature in late 2003. The first attachment available was from Belkin Components. The first Belkin iPod voice recorder has an integrated microphone for recording conversations, lectures and other ambient sound.

Since then, Belkin has released a Universal Microphone Adaptor that fits more models of iPods. However there is currently no voice recorder available for the iPod Video.

For those with a compatible iPod, the voice recorder attachments are very handy because of the iPod’s storage capacity.
