» What is your style?
One of the first things you should consider when looking for a sofa, is the style. What style sofa are you interested in? Are you furnishing an entire room or adding to a room currently filled with furniture? If you are adding to existing furniture, you might be more limited in color and style. Most likely, you will want to match the new sofa with the existing furniture in the room. Does this sofa fit my current decorations? What color would best blend with furniture that I already have in the room? These are questions you might want to ask yourself as you begin to shop. If you are placing a sofa in a room that does not already have furniture, then you are less limited and your options are endless.
You might also consider the room in which your sofa will be placed. If you are searching for a sofa for a formal room, you might be less concerned with comfort and more concerned with appearance. Although, aesthetics are extremely important, you still want your sofa to be comfortable and inviting. Listed below are basic types of sofas you might be interested in purchasing.
If extra sleeping space is what is needed, this is the product for you. Sleeper sofas are made in a variety of sizes. The neat thing about the sleeper sofa is, hence the name, it is also designed for sleeping. The sofa, not only, provides seating but it also folds out to make a bed. Depending on the size of sofa that is chosen, the fold out bed could be anywhere from a twin to a king in size.
This is a piece that is not convertible. Its intended use is primarily for seating. However, there are stationary sofas that provide additional storage under the seat cushions.
Some sofas are designed to recline just like a reclining chair. One part or the entire sofa may recline. This sofa is great for those that would like a traditional sofa, but would also enjoy a reclining chair for further relaxation. For those that really need to relax, sofas with built in massaging features are available.
An alternative to purchasing a new sofa is simply covering an existing sofa. This would require a slipcover. A slipcover is designed to be placed over your sofa and is not permanently fixed. If you are satisfied with the size and shape of a sofa already in position, you might want to purchase a slipcover. Slipcovers come in a variety of sizes, and fabrics. Be careful, slipcovers might possibly end up being as expensive as a brand new sofa. If a slipcover is not exactly what you desire, then it is best to just seek out the entire sofa.
