While a bed, desk, sofa, and appliances are the big furniture items for a dorm room, there are a thousand little things that can help a dorm room feel a little more like home. Consider keeping some of these items in your dorm room, either for fun or for function:
• Ironing Boards: Moms, you may need to teach your sons how to use these.
• Alarm Clock: How else are you going to get to class on time?
• Hanging Mirrors
• Games: Darts, Nerf basketball, and more
• Power Cord/Surge Protector: So a computer crash doesn’t make you lose your final paper
• Plants: Displays creativity and helps you study biology.
• White Board
• Lamps: Desk lamps mean your roommate can sleep as you cram for finals.
• Small Luggage: Great for weekend trips home to see Mom and Dad.
• Wall Décor: Posters and paintings
The above list is only a beginning. Think through the items that make you feel at home, whether that means candles, picture frames, stuffed animals, or potato chips.
