Once you have set goals and made a general plan for your child’s living space, you will know what type of children’s furniture that you need to buy. The variety of types of furniture is nearly endless when it comes to designing your child’s bedroom or playroom. There are many types of beds, dressers, chests, writing desks, computer desks, desk chairs, bean bag chairs, playroom couches and chairs, nightstands, bookcases, armoires, vanities and toy storage options.

Something very helpful in shopping for children’s furniture is that most websites will list dimensions, weight and wood/material type for each item listed. Knowing the dimensions of your child’s playroom or bedroom will help you immensely. Some specialty items, such as fantasy beds, might possibly be too big for your space.

If you are looking to enhance functionality in your child’s living space, there are many great options that save space and yet are creative in their function. If you have limited space (or even if you don’t), you may want to consider using a bed with under-bed storage. Trundle beds can also be used to increase sleeping options, especially if you have frequent guests. Another fun option for children is the loft bed. A loft bed is elevated much like a bunk bed but instead of another bed below, you can choose to place a desk or dresser or bookcase or possibly even all three. Storage space for books, toys and art supplies can also be very innovative, fun and look classy too.
