» So are there any other types of foundations out there, or are Box Springs the only way to go?
· Platform Beds: There are beds that do not require Box Springs and are indeed built to function as a foundation of their own. These beds are known as platform beds and it is not only unnecessary to have a Box Spring, but your platform bed will most likely not even accommodate one without looking a bit odd!
· Coil on Coil: There are a few manufacturers that make their foundations custom for their mattresses. The foundation is not made of the traditional wood frame with springs, but it is made in a similar fashion as the mattress itself with an inner coil construction. As you can imagine, this may be a much “springier” experience and one that some sleepers would be uncomfortable with, but to each his own!
· Standard Foundation: A standard foundation is simply a wooden boxed foundation covered with fabric that has no springs. This choice minimizes movement and can be a very inexpensive choice. Sleepers who choose the route of a latex mattress often consider this type of foundation instead of a Box Springs.
Next Page: Honestly, why can't I just keep this old Box Springs and just buy a new mattress?
