Isn't Box Spring an oxymoron?

If we were to really think about it, and most of us probably never have in our lives, but just for fun let’s say we did, isn’t it funny to call something both a “box” and a “spring?” But that is indeed what the traditional foundation of a bed is called. Why? Well, it is most often and most simply, just that, a box with springs. It provides both spring and support for your mattress. But it is probably one piece of furniture that is certainly taken for granted and purchased without thought. Most shoppers assume that they need one and give very little thought to why they need one, what a Box Spring actually provides for their bed or what to consider when purchasing one. So, let’s do what most people rarely do, let’s go where few shoppers dare to go…into the land of Box Springs! It is the land of things never thought of, and let’s find new and interesting facts that will not only give us better knowledge with which to purchase a bed, but possibly even a couple of answers to some bizarre trivia questions!
