When you freelance you have the advantage of working on your own time schedule. You will normally be given a deadline for your project and then it is up to you to determine how to meet that deadline. You may work several hours one day and none the next. The client does not dictate your work schedule, only your deadline. This means you must be dedicated and be able to prioritize your time to be sure that you meet your obligations. If you want to solicit additional work from a client, you must show that you are responsible and reliable.
You no longer have to miss out on family activities because your boss will not let you have the time off of work. If you child has a sporting event or dance class, you are able to work your schedule around the activities. If you need to work less during the day you may be able to spend some time working after you have put the children to bed at night.

You are also working from your own home which is a more comfortable environment for you.
Working people often complain about having to take a vacation day or lose half a day of work while waiting at home for a repairman, or the cable company. When working from home you can at least be productive while you wait for them to show up. However, it is best to try to schedule such activities around your least productive time.

Generally, your pay is much better as a freelancer because you set your rate. You do not normally work by the hour, but by the project. You are not at the mercy of your boss when asking for a raise. You set the amount of pay for which you will work and it is either accepted by a client or not.
Once you have completed a project for a client and have done a good job, you will generally get repeat work from this client.
