French people are often a mystery to Americans, and there is a reason that is so: the French don’t necessarily want to be known. In the American world of tabloid journalism, privacy and decorum are becoming increasingly hard to find. The French guard their privacy and relationships in a way Americans do not. The result is the cold, rude persona the French are famous for in the States. But that is only a small aspect of a rich and diverse culture of people who are as varied and diverse as their nation is.
