Why use tile in a bathroom?

You might remember stepping out of the shower as a kid onto a freezing cold black and white tile floor, wishing your parents had the good sense to install carpeting in the bathroom for your sake. Or maybe you remember some hideous color combination or tile design you always wished you could change. But now, as an adult, you realize why your parents chose that cold tile for the bathroom floor—it’s durable, easy to clean, handles moisture well, and bears just about anything kids can bring its way.

As for the crazy color combinations, your parents were either trying to make a design statement that you, as a child, didn’t appreciate—or they just didn’t get around to tackling a flooring project someone else handled poorly. Either way, you probably now can appreciate tile for all the size, color, and pattern variations available. Your choices are nearly unlimited, and it’s up to you to determine just what kind of look you want for your bathroom. But, for your kids’ sake, make sure to put down a fluffy, warm bathmat to soothe the jolt of winter-morning cold on their feet.

And don’t think of tile as just an option for flooring. It’s also a wise choice for bathroom walls, in the shower, and as a counter backsplash because of its durability around water. Tile is also very easy to clean and maintain.
