Many fantasy basketball leagues use the head-to-head scoring format, with two teams matching up with one another each week and tallying points which lead to wins and losses. A bracketed playoff, with its seeds determined by the records of each fantasy team, is held near the conclusion of the NBA’s regular season to determine the league champion. Usually the top six or eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
There are two other types of scoring available for fantasy basketball leagues. One is rotisserie scoring. Leagues which use rotisserie scoring award points to each team based on their place in the standings in each category. So, for example, in a twelve team league, the team that leads in each category is awarded 12 points, and the last place team is awarded one point, with the others falling into place in between. The other type of scoring is points only, in which each statistical category is assigned a point value. The players on each fantasy team accumulate these points as the season progresses, and, at the conclusion of the season, the fantasy team with the most points in the champion of the league.
