For many, the most enjoyable part of yoga is the meditation. There are several items available to make the most out of this relaxing time.
· Pillows/cushions: Pillows and cushions are meant to help get you in the most comfortable position so you can concentrate on the meditation. They also aid in supporting the spine and keep you in the correct alignment. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and types, such as eye pillows, which are used to place over the eyes for deeper relaxation. Blankets can also be purchased to use as a cushion or for warmth.
· Benches/Chairs: Custom made benches and chairs are a perfect way for those with physical limitations to enjoy the benefits of meditation. These chairs allow you to sit without putting pressure or strain on the lower back, knees, or ankles.
· Music: For those who have a hard time filtering out the world and focusing, there is a wide variety of music CDs made just for that purpose. These can be especially useful for those who choose to practice yoga at home. Many of the CDs even provide a step-by-step voice to guide you into deep relaxation.
No matter what the age or fitness level, anyone can reap the benefits of yoga with the added help of these simple props. With the use of yoga gear you can be on your way to a more peaceful body, mind, and spirit.
