· Treadmill: Perhaps the most widely used piece of fitness equipment, the treadmill allows you to walk or run in place and to simulate hills or level land. Most treadmills also have their own timers. They start at around $1,000.
· Cross-country ski machines: These machines simulate cross-country skiing. You exercise your arms and legs at the same time. They can be somewhat difficult to maneuver, so you will definitely want to try it out before choosing this as your method of aerobic work out.
· Step Machine: The step machine is a lot like moving steps. You primarily work your lower body on this machine.
· Elliptical Machine: The elliptical machine is perhaps the most popular machine in fitness clubs today. It is a combination of the step machine movements and the Nordic machine. It is a low-impact way to work out both arms and legs.
· Rowing Machine: On this machine you simulate rowing a boat while at the same time pushing your body back and forth by bending and straightening your legs. It works the arms, legs and back. This is a great overall workout. It is important to maintain good form during this exercise to avoid back injury.
· Exercise Bikes: Like the treadmill, the exercise bike is a very popular home fitness piece of equipment. It is a no-impact exercise that is great for people with leg problems like varicose veins, beginner exercisers, and overweight exercisers. A well-made bike might cost between $700 and $1200.
· Aerobic Rider: This machine works your legs and arms at the same time with a push and pulls motion.
