·        Barbell Set: The barbell set is for lifting heavy weights. The set usually comes with a bench on which you lie for the workout. These weights will usually go up to 110 lbs.
·        Dumbbell Set: This is a smaller set of weights. It is usually good to have 5 lb., 8 lb., 10lb., and 12 lb. weights for lifting. It is wise to buy these made of rubber for better safety.
·        Exercise Ball: The exercise ball has become increasingly popular with the new emphasis on building core strength. You can use the ball for several purposes: to build balance, for strengthening stomach or back muscles, even as a weight bench to add an extra challenge to your muscle strengthening routine. It is indeed versatile, but can also be difficult to maneuver.
·        Resistance Bands: Inexpensive and convenient enough to pack in a suitcase, resistance bands are a great resource for one who travels a lot, one who has very little room, or one who cannot afford more expensive equipment. Believe it or not, you can get a great overall body workout with these bands. And you will really notice bigger muscles and more strength as a result.
·        Multi-Station Machine: This is almost like a complete home gym for weight resistance. The resistance is created by cables attached to weights or rubber resistance.
·        Ankle Weights: These are weights that wrap around your ankle area for leg strengthening. You can even use these when you go walking.
